If this is accepted, the variation B/u points to a Pre-Greek substrate word, which is probable anyhow. ἀμάρακον : ἢ. et ἀμάρακος m. (genre incertain chez Pherecr., Theophr. ἃ les deux genres) « marjolaine, Origanum Majorana». Dérivés : &uäpaxtvos « de marjolaine » {Antiph., etc.), ἀμᾶρακόεις «semblable à la marjolaine » (Nic.
