Citation policy
The grounding rule
Every claim Logoi makes — a count, a passage, a parse, a lexicon sense, an etymology pointer — comes from a tool call against the audited corpus database. The AI layer is forbidden to supply Greek text, numbers, or etymologies from model memory. When the corpus has no evidence, the answer is not attested in the indexed corpus — an honest empty result, never an invention.
Receipts
Every tool result carries source_ids (the sources supporting the
claim) and either a receipt_url (a stable pointer to the
claim-to-evidence chain) or an explicit unavailable receipt state.
In the chat stream these arrive as citations events beside the answer text.
If you quote or paraphrase a Logoi answer, carry any materialized receipt URL with it;
if no receipt exists yet, preserve that limitation instead of substituting another record.
When Greek text displays
Logoi serves primary-source Greek only where the edition's license permits public display (public-domain and share-alike-licensed editions such as Perseus and DIORISIS lineages). Where display is not permitted, the passage returns a typed license state with its citation — a pointer you can follow to an edition you hold, never silent omission and never reproduction.
Citation-only authorities
Copyrighted reference works (Beekes, Chantraine, Frisk, BDAG, HALOT, TLG, Loeb, OED) surface as citation pointers — authority, volume, entry — so a reader who owns the source can find the entry. Logoi never reproduces their text. The full list is at /acknowledgments.
How to cite Logoi
- Cite the primary passage first, by canonical reference as Logoi returns it (e.g. Hom. Il. 9.646; Hdt. 5.56).
- Cite Logoi as the instrument: "retrieved via Logoi (logoi.health), receipt: <receipt URL>".
- For AI-composed prose (chat answers, etymology articles), note the AI authorship — every such surface carries a disclosure line; see the AI disclosure.
- Verify high-stakes claims against the receipt chain before publication; that is what it is for.
Corrections
Errors land as corrections in new commits with dated entries; history is not silently rewritten. Report errors to cody@seba.health.
