daAbirN dAbr act. part. n. of dabara , Following (S, K, TA) behind the back; following the back; following, with respect to place, and also with respect to time, and also (assumed tropical:) with respect to rank or station. (TA.) [Hence,] daAbiru qawomK The last that remains of a people or party; he who comes at the end of a people or party; as also ↓ daAbiratuhumo ; which likewise signifies those who remain after them: and ↓ daAbirapN [so in the TA, but accord. to the T daAbirN , which I think the right reading,] signifies one who comes after; or follows, another. (TA.) And Ald~alowu bayona qaAbilK wadaAbirK The bucket is between one who advances with it to the well and one who goes back, or returns, with it to the wateringtrough. (A.) And jaEalahu daAbira A^u*unihi : see daborN . And A^amosi Ald~aAbiru and ↓ Almudobiru Yesterday that is past: (S, M, K:) the epithet being here a corroborative. (S, * M.) You say, SaAruwA kaA^amosi Ald~aAbiri [ They became like yesterday that is past ]. (A.) And hayohaAta *ahaba kamaA *ahaba A^amosi Ald~aAbiru [ Far distant is he, or it! He, or it, hath gone like as hath gone yesterday that is past ]. (S.) ― -b2- Also An arrow that passes forth from the butt, (S, Msb, K,) [or passes beyond it, (see 1,)] and falls behind it: (TA:) you say sahomN daAbirN , and sihaAmN daAbirapN and dawaAbiru . (Msb.) ― -b3- An arrow that does not win [in the game called Almayosir ]; (K, TA;) contr. of qaAbilN . (S, TA.) ― -b4- The last arrow remaining in the quiver. (A.) ― -b5- The last of anything; (Ibn-Buzurj, T, M, K;) and so ↓ daAbirapN : (M:) [see also duburN :] and (accord. to As and others, TA) the root, stock, race, or the like; syn. A^aSolN . (K.) One says, qaTaEa A@ll~`hu daAbirahumo May God cut off the last that remain of them. (S.) And qaTaEa A@ll~`hu daAbirahu May God cut off the last of him, or it: (A:) or may God extirpate him. (As, T.) And in the Kur [vi. 45] it is said, faquTiEa daAbiru Alqawomi And the last of the people were extirpated. (M, TA.) And in a trad., yuqoTaEu bihi daAbiruhumo All of them shall be cut off thereby, not one remaining. (TA.) ― -b6- See also dabirN , last sentence. ― -b7- As an epithet applied to a camel: see gud~apN .
