غَسَق

1 gasaqa * , said of the night, aor. gasiqa , (S, O, K,) inf. n. gusuwqN (O, K, * TA) and gasoqN and gasaqN and gasaqaAnN , (K,) It became dark; (S, O;) as also ↓ Agsq , (Th, O,) said by Z to be of the dial. of the Benoo-Temeem: (TA:) or both signify it became intensely dark. (K.) Hence, in a trad., gasaqa All~ayolu EalaY AlZ~iraAbi i. e. The night poured down upon the small mountains and covered them with its darkness. (TA.) ― -b2- And, said of the moon, It lost its light, and became black and dark. (TA.) ― -b3- And gasaqato Eayonuhu , (S, O, K,) aor. gasiqa ; (O, K;) and gasiqato , aor. gasaqa ; (K;) inf. n. gasoqN , (S, O,) or gusuwqN , (K,) or both, (TA,) and gasaqaAnN ; (K, TA;) (assumed tropical:) His eye became dark: (S, O, K, TA:) or (assumed tropical:) shed tears: (K, TA:) or (tropical:) poured forth [ tears ]: (TA:) or gsqt AlEayonu means (assumed tropical:) the eye overflowed with water. (AZ, TA.) ― -b4- And gasaqa AljuroHu , inf. n. gasaqaAnN (S, O, K) and gasoqN also, (TA,) The wound had yellow water flowing from it; (S, O, K;) and so gasiqa . (K, by implication.) And gasaqati Als~amaA='u , (O, K, TA,) aor. gasiqa , inf. n. gasoqN and gasaqaAnN , (K, TA,) The sky rained; or let fall a little rain, such as is termed ra$~N : (O, K, TA:) and [ the rain ] poured forth; syn. AinoSab~at : (TA:) [and in this latter sense gasaqa is app. said of any fluid; for,] accord. to Th, (O, TA,) gasaqaAnN is syn. with AinoSibaAbN . (O, K, TA.) [Hence,] gasaqa All~abanu , (K,) inf. n. gasoqN (TA) [and app. gasaqaAnN ], The milk poured forth from the udder. (TA.)

gasaqN * The beginning of the darkness of night: (Fr, S, O:) or the darkness of the night: (Akh, TA:) or the darkness of the beginning of the night: (K:) or [the time ] when the $afaq [or redness in the horizon after sunset ] disappears: or the time of the blending of the Ei$aAA=ni , [see ruwaAn , last sentence,] which is when the darkness becomes confused, and obstructs [ the view of ] the aspects of things: or, accord. to Sh, the entering-in of the beginning of the darkness. (TA.) -A2- Also Refuse that is found among wheat, such as ruwaAn [or darnel-grass, &c. ], and the like. (Fr, O, K.)
