1. حَامٍ

HaAmK HAm HAmy [act. part. n. of HamaY . And hence,] A stallion-camel that has prohibited, or interdicted, his back [to be used for bearing a rider or any burden]; ( Zahorahu ↓ HamaY ; Fr, S, K;) that is not ridden, (Fr, S, Mgh,) nor shorn of any of his fur; (Fr, S;) that is left at liberty, not made any use of, (K,) nor debarred from pasturage (Fr, S, Mgh, K) nor from water: (K:) he is one that has long continued with a people: (S:) or whose offspring's offspring has conceived: (Fr, S Mgh:) or that has covered a certain number of times, or ten times: (K:) it is mentioned in the Kur [v. 102]. (S, Mgh. [See also baHiyrapN ]) ― -b2- AlHaAmiY is also an appellation applied to The lion; and so ↓ AlmaHomiY~u ; (K;) in the Tekmileh, AlHAmY and ↓ AlmuHomY [app. AlmuHomiY , as in a copy of the K]. (TA.) ― -b3- You say also, fulaAnN HaAmiY AlHaqiyqapi [ Such a one is the protector, or defender, of that which, or those whom, it is necessary for him, or incumbent on him, to protect, or defend ]; like HaAmiY Al*~imaAri [q. v. in art. *mr ]; and HaAmiY AlHumay~aA [explained in the next preceding paragraph]: pl. HumaApN and [coll. gen. n.] ↓ HaAmiyapN : (S:) this last word signifies a company, or party, protecting, or defending, their companions, (K,) or themselves: (TA:) and also a man who is a protector, or defender, of his companions (K) in war: (TA:) or a strenuous protector and defender of a party; for the p is to give intensiveness to the signification: (Mgh:) and you say, huwa EalaY HaAmiyapi Alqawomi , meaning He is the last of those who protect, or defend, the party in their going away (K) and in their state of defeat. (TA.) -A2- [ Hot: or vehemently hot. ] You say HadiydapN HaAmiyapN A piece of iron vehemently hot by means of fire. (Msb.) And qidoru Alqawomi HaAmiyapN tafuwru The people's cooking-pot is hot, boiling: meaning (assumed tropical:) the people are mighty, strong, or invincible, and vehemently impetuous in valour. (TA.)

HawamaAnN (S, Msb, K) and HawomN , (S, K,) said of a bird, or flying thing, (S, Msb, K,) &c., (S,) It went, [or hovered, ] or circled, (S, Msb, K,) round about the water, (S, Msb,) by reason of thirst, (TA,) or round about the thing: (K:) and in like manner HaAmato , said of camels. (K, TA.) ― -b2- [Hence,] it is said in a trad., mano HaAma Hawola AlHimaY yuw$ika A^ano yaqaEa fiyhi , meaning (assumed tropical:) He who approaches acts of disobedience is near to falling therein. (Msb.) And you say, huwa yaHuwmu Hawola garaDK lahu (tropical:) [ He hovers about an object of aim, or desire, that he has ]. (TA.) And HAm fulaAnN EalaY AlA^amori , inf. n. HawomN and HiyaAmN and Huw^uwmN , (K, TA,) the second with kesr [to the H , and therefore with Y in the place of w , but written in the CK with fet-h], (TA,) (tropical:) Such a one desired, or sought, the thing. (K, TA.) And HAm EalaY qaraAbatihi (tropical:) He affected, or inclined towards, his relations, like one going round about the water. (TA.)
