HaraAmN HrAm Forbidden, prohibited, or unlawful: and sacred, or inviolable; as in the phrases Albayotu AlHaraAmu [ the Sacred House of God (i. e. the Kaabeh)] and Almasojidu AlHaraAmu [ the Sacred Mosque of Mekkeh] and Albaladu AlHaraAmu [ the Sacred Town or Territory ]: (Msb:) contr. of HalaAlN ; (S;) as also ↓ HaramN (S, Msb) and ↓ HiromN (S, Msb, K) and ↓ HarimN [q. v.] (TA) [and in its primary sense ↓ HariymN ] and ↓ maHoramN : (S, Mgh, Msb:) the pl. [of HaraAmN , agreeably with analogy,] is HurumN ; (K;) and ↓ maHaArimu also is a pl. of HaraAmN , contr. to rule, (TA,) and signifies things forbidden by God. (K.) See also HiromN . ― -b2- HaraAma A@ll~`hi laA A^afoEalu , (as in some copies of the S,) or HaraAmu All~`h lA AfEl , (as in other copies of the S and in the K,) is a saying like yamiyna A@ll~`hi laA A^afoEalu , or yamiynu All~`h lA AfEl : (S, K:) it may mean a declaration that the wife or the female slave shall be forbidden [to him who utters it], without the intention of divorcing [thereby the former, or of emancipating the latter; so that it may be rendered, according to the two different readings, I imprecate upon myself, or that which I imprecate upon myself is, what is forbidden of God, if I do it: I will not do such a thing: in like manner, EalaY~a AlHaraAmu is often said in the present day]. AlA^a$ohuru AlHurumu [ The sacred months ] (S, * Msb, K) were four; namely, *uw AlqaEodapi and *uw AlHij~api and AlmuHar~amu and rajabN ; (S, Msb, K;) three consecutive, and one separate: (S, Msb:) in these the Arabs held fight to be unlawful; except two tribes, Khath'am and Teiyi; unless with those who held these months as profane. (S, TA.) ― -b5- HaraAmN applied to a man signifies Entering into the Haram [or sacred territory of Mekkeh or of El-Medeeneh, or Mekkeh or El- Medeeneh itself]; and is applied also to a woman; and to a pl. number: (TA:) or i. q. ↓ muHorimN (S, Msb) as meaning [ in, or entering upon, the state of A_iHoraAm : i. e. entering upon the performance of those acts of the Haj~ , or of the Eumorap , whereby certain things before allowable, or lawful, to him became forbidden, or unlawful; (see 4;) or] purposing to enter upon the performance of the Haj~ or the Eumorap : (Msb:) as also ↓ HiromN : you say, A^anota Hil~N and Ant HiromN [ Thou art one who has quitted his state of A_iHoraAm and thou art in, or entering upon, the state of AHrAm ]: (TA:) the pl. of HaraAmN thus applied is HurumN : (S, Msb:) the fem. of ↓ muHorimN is with p ; and the pl. masc. muHorimuwna ; and the pl. fem. muHorimaAtN .
