1. جَوَابٌ
jawaAbN jAbyp jwAb An answer, a reply, or a response, (Msb, TA, *) to a letter, or writing, and to a saying, or question; and this is either affirmative or negative: (Msb:) [accord. to some, it is only after a question or demand; but this is not correct; for it is often a reply to an affirmation:] ↓ jiybapN [q. v.] is syn. therewith; (S, K;) and so are ↓ jaAbapN [q. v.] and ↓ majuwbapN : (K:) the pl. of jwAb is A^ajowibapN and jawaAbaAtN (Msb.) [Hence, in grammar, Harofu jawaAbK A responsive, or replicative, particle. And jawaAbu $aroTK An apodosis; the complement, or correlative, of a condition; as A^akoramotuka in the saying, A_ino jiy^otaniY A^akoramotuka ; also called jazaA='u $aroTK , and jawaAbu jazaA='K .
