مُّحْضَر

maHoDarN mHDr A place where people are present, or assembled. (K, * TA.) See also HaDorapN . ― -b2- A place to which people return ( marojiEN [here a n. of place, agreeably with analogy,]) to the waters, (S, K;) or to the constant sources of water; (T, TA;) contr. of mabodF Y : (T and S in art. bdw :) a place to which one goes ( ma*ohabN ) in search of herbage is called munotajaEN ; and every such place is called mabodF Y , of which the pl. is mabaAdK : watering-places ( manaAhil ) are called maHaADiru [pl. of maHoDarN ] because of the congregation and presence of men at them. [See also HaADirN , last signification.] -A2- [ People present, or assembled; an assembly: so in the present day.] ― -b2- A people dwelling, or staying, by waters: (K, * TA:) [pl. maHaADiru :] see HaADirN . -A3- The record of a kadee (or judge ), in which his sentence is written, syn. sijil~N : (S, K:) or what is written when a person brings a charge against another: when the latter makes his reply, and proves it, it [the writing] is [called] tawofiyqN ; and when judgment is given, sijilN . (Kull p. 352.) This is thought by MF to be a recent conventional term; but it has been heard from the Arabs [of the classical times], and is mentioned by ISd and others. (TA.) ― -b2- Also A signature ( xaT~N ) that is written at the end of the record of the signatures ( xuTuwT ) of the witnesses, in testimony of the truth of the contents of what precedes. (K. [In the CK, waAqaEapK is erroneously put for waAqiEapi ; and xuTuwTu , for xuTuwTi .]) But this is a recent conventional application. (MF, TA.) -A4- fulaAnN Hasanu AlmaHoDari (assumed tropical:) Such a one is a person who speaks well of the absent. (S.)
