nuw^oYN * A trench dug round a tent, (S, K,) or a barrier [ raised ] around it, (T, IB, TA,) to prevent the rain-water from entering it, (S,) or keep off a torrent. (K.)

2. نَوًى

nawFY * Date-stones: they are often used as food for camels; (see A_ibilN nawawiy~apN ;) and for this purpose are bruised, and sometimes mixed with barley, and then moistened: see basiysapN . ― -b2- nawaApN What is cut off in the circumcision of a girl. (Lh, in TA, voce Eu*orapN .) The name shows that this is the prepuce of the clitoris, the end of which resembles the end of a date-stone.
