The objective complement of qAl , meaning He said, or what is termed maquwlu Alqawoli , must be a complete proposition, or a word signifying at least one complete proposition, as kalaAmFA ; or a word signifying a command or the like; or a word significant of a sound, termed A_isomu SawotK : it may be a verb; but cannot be an inf. n., as EibaAdapN . (Gr.) [This is what is meant where] it is said in the Keshsháf, AlEibaAdapu lA tuqaAlu . (Kull, p. 327.) ― -b2- qaAla lahu signifies xaATaba lh : qAl Eanohu , rawaY Enh : qAl Ealayohi , AifotaraY Elyh : qAl bihi , Hakama bh : and qAl fyh , Aijotahada fiyhi . (TA.) ― -b12- qaAla biAlmaA='i EalaY yadihi He poured the water on his arm or hand. (TA.) ― -b13- qaAla fiyhi He spoke against him; vituperated him. ― -b14- qaAla $iEorFA lit., He said, or spoke, or put forth, or uttered, or gave utterance to, or recited, poetry; he spoke in verse; he poetized, or versified. ― -b15- qaAla He made a sign; syn.
