Eal~aAhu ; (K and TA in art. Elw ;) and raq~aAhu ; (TA in art. rqY ;) [and so ↓ ASEdhu ; and ↓ AstSEdhu ; like as one says in the contr. sense naz~alahu and A^anozalahu and Aisotanozalahu .] You say, SE~dhu jabalFA and daAb~apN [ He made him to ascend, or mount, a mountain and a beast ]. (TA in art. Elw .) And fiY Aljabali ↓ yuSoEiduwnahaA is said with reference to wild bulls or cows [as meaning They make them to ascend upon the mountain ]. (S and TA in art. slE .) ― -b2- [Hence,] one says also, SaE~ada fiY~a Aln~aZara waSaw~abahu , meaning (assumed tropical:) He looked at me from head to foot, contemplating me. (L, from a trad. [And a similar phrase occurs in Har p. 640.]) ― -b3- [ SE~dhu , inf. n. taSoEiydN , (the latter as used in the K voce kaAfuwrN ,) also signifies (assumed tropical:) He sublimated it: often occurring in medical books, and used in this sense in the present day.] ― -b4- And taSoEiydN signifies also The act of liquifying, melting, or dissolving. SaEadN * : see SaEuwdN , in two places. ― -b2- Ea*aAbN SaEadN A vehement, severe, rigorous, or grievous, punishment; (S, A, K;) i. e. *uw SaEadK : (TA:) or a distressing, or an afflicting, punishment, (Bd and Jel in lxxii. 17,) that shall overcome the sufferer thereof, the latter word being an inf. n. used as an epithet. SuEudN * an inf. n. of SaEida [q. v.]. (Ham p. 407.) [Hence,] *ahaba Als~ahomu SuEudFA [ The arrow went upwards ]. (A.) And h`*aA Aln~abaAtu yanomiY SuEudFA This plant increases in height. (S.) And tanaf~asa SuEudFA : see SuEadaA='u . And ↓ mino SuEodK [used by poetic license for mn SuEudK ], said of a thing falling, i. e. From above; from a higher place.
