خَابَ

1 xaAba xAb , (S, A, Msb, K, &c.,) aor. yaxiybu (Msb, K) and yaxuwbu , (TA,) inf. n. xayobapN , (S, Msb, K,) He (a man, S) was disappointed of attaining what he desired or sought; was balked; was unsuccessful; failed of attaining his desire: (S, Msb, K:) he was denied, refused, prohibited from attaining, or debarred from, what he desired or sought. (A, K.) You say, mano haAba xaAba [ He who fears will be disappointed ]. (A, TA.) And xaAba saEoyuhu waA^amaluhu [ His labour, and his hope, or expectation, resulted in disappointment; were disappointed, balked, or frustrated; ] he attained not what he sought or desired. (A, TA.) [See also xayobapN , below.] ― -b2- Also He suffered loss. (K.) ― -b3- And i. q. kafara [ He disbelieved; or be came an unbeliever, or infidel; &c.]. (K.)

3 xAb~ xAb : see muxaAb~N . [It seems that xAb~hu , if used, signifies He acted treacherously towards him, and took him unawares. ] ― -b2- And [the inf. n.] muxaAb~apN signifies The being heavy, or sluggish, and holding back from a thing. (JK.)

xaAb~N xAb , (S, K, TA,) in one copy of the K xaAb~apN , [as in the CK,] but the former is the more correct, (TA,) Relationship; (S, K;) and affinity, syn. SihorN : (S:) pl. xawaAb~u . (S, K.) You say, liY mino fulaAnK xawaAb~u [ I have ties of relationship, or affinity, to such a one ]. (S.)
