*ETYM βράκανα has been compared with OHG moraha, OE moru ‘carrot’. Fur. 330 rather compared Baxavov ‘cabbage(-seed)’ (Aét.), which requires the assumption of an alternation B ~ Bp (or even B ~ BS ~ Bp); for such an alternation there are indeed parallels in the Pre-Greek lexicon.
