γράω [v.] ‘to gnaw, eat’ (Call. Fr. 200). *VAR Only impf. ἔγραε. Athem. ipv. γράσθι (Cypr.), them. (contracted) γρᾶ: φάγε. Κύπριοι ‘eat! (Cypr.y (H.). Also γραίνειν' ἐσθίειν ‘eat’ (HL). *DER ypdotic [f.] ‘green fodder’ (pap. Hippiatr.); more common κράστις (Ar.), probably due to folk etymological connection with another (unknown) word; ypaotitw ‘feed at grass’ (Gp., Hippiatr.), ypaotiopoc … — [Beekes, s.v. γράω, p. 333]
2. γράω · graō — Chantraine
γράω : seulement à l'impf. ἔγρας «il dévorait » (Call. fr. 551). Mais le chypriote fournit de vieilles formes : impér. ath. (présent ou aoriste ?) γράσθι (à Chypre, Masson, ICS 264, cf. Bechtel, Gr. Dial. 1,433), à côté de la forme thém. contractée attestée chez Hsch. yp& * φάγε, Κύπριοι; en outre le substantif composé avec χατά, καγρᾶ “ καταφαγᾶς, Σαλαμίνιοι (Hsch.) qui entre dans la série des sobriquets en -&c; … — [Chantraine, s.v. γράω, p. 251]
