ὄγχνη [f.] ‘pear tree, Pirus communis’, also ‘pear’ (Od., Thphr.). «Ροῦ» eVAR Also 6xvn (Theoc., Call., Nic.), 6yxvia- ἄπιον ‘pear (tree)’ (H.). eETYM Hypothetically connected with » ἔγχος ‘lance’, if this was originally a lance of pearwood.
