to fly; only in simile “seyyathā pakkhī sakuṇo yena yen’ eva ḍeti…” DN.i.71 = MN.i.180 , MN.i.269 = AN.ii.209 Pp.58 ; Ja.v.417 . Cp. dayati & dīyati, also uḍḍeti. Sk. *ḍayate = dīyati; ḍayana flying. The Dhtp gives the root as ḍī or ḷī with def. of “ākāsa-gamana”.
