ἀλφάνω : prés. chez E. Méd. 297, Ar., fr. 326, Eup., avec l’aor. ἦλφον seule forme aiicctée chez Fom,, ce qui peut s'expliquer par des raisons métriques. 1} existe un doublet tardif ἀλφαίνω (EM 72,33, Aët. 13,123). Sens : « procurer, gagner », etc., cf. Il. 21,79 ἑκατόμθοιον ἦἧλφον « je t'ai rapporté le prix de cent bœufs » ; ou 706 13 94, 15 ὁπόσην ἂν ἄλφῃ μίσθωσιν τὸ τέμενος.
