[or quasi-pl. n.] of ↓ xaAy^ilN meaning a pastor. (S.) You say h`w^ulaA='i xawalu fulaAnK , meaning These are persons who have been subjected, and taken as slaves, by such a one. (TA.) ― -b2- See also xaAlN . ― -b3- Also A gift, or gifts: [and this seems to be the primary signification; whence “ a slave ” &c., and “ slaves ” &c., as being given by God:] so in the phrase, huwa kavru Alxawali [ He is a person of many gifts ].
