Fr. 48), ‘dull’ vel sim. «τεῦ *sneud'- ‘cloud, dark’, PG?> © *ETYM Solmsen Glotta 2 (1910): 75f. adduces νυθόν: ἄφωνον, σκοτεινόν ‘mute, dark’, and νυθῶδες: σκοτεινῶδες (H.), comparing the IE word for ‘cloud’ in Av. snaoéa-, Lat. niibés, etc; cf. on » νυστάζω.
