Sicher steht nur, daß as° (vor -i-) und as° (vor -t-) als idg. *ok® bzw. *hek° ‘octo’ ursprungsgleich sind. Versuchen, in asiti- einen hohen Archaismus zu sehen (z.B. Hüb, IF Anzeiger !1 [1900) 46 Anm. 1: idg. *öklati- neben enklit *ok’atö > asta usw., AiGr IH 370), steht in der neueren Literatur die … — [Mayrhofer, s.v. asiti-, p. 192]
