σκαλαπάζει [ν.] ῥέμβεται ‘roams, rolls about’ (H.), σκαλπάζειν: ῥεμβωδῶς βαδίζειν ‘to wander about roamingly’ (H.). *ETYM The alternation oxadan-/ σκαλπ- is suspicious, and if the noun » κάλπη ‘trot’ is cognate (thus Fur.: 379), we probably are dealing with a Pre-Greek word. — [Beekes, s.v. σκαλαπάζει, p. 1391]
