Gegen Anknüpfung an σμηρίζειν “ebnen, 748 σμάω-- σμερδαλέος glätten’ (Hero; Strömberg 87) spricht die fast durchgehende Kürze des & (ἃ nur Mare. Sid.). — [Frisk, s.v. σμαρίς, p. 1719]
