heart, ἐν ἐμοὶ αὐτῇ στήθεσι πάλλεται ἦ. ἀνὰ στόμα my heart beats up to my throat, Il. 22.452; the seat of life, life, φίλον ἦ. ὀλέσσαι 5.250, etc.; λύτο γούνατα καὶ φίλον ἦ. 21.114, etc.; ἀνέψυχον φίλον ἦ. 13.84; τὰς δʼ ἐσσυμένως λίπεν ἦ. Q.S. 1.257 (v.l.): most freq., as the seat of feeling, passion, desire, etc., ἐγέλασσε δέ οἱ φίλον ἧ. Il. 21.389; κατεπλήγη φίλον ἦ. 3.31; ἄχεϊ βεβολημένος ἦ. 9.9; μινύθει δέ μοι ἔνδοθεν ἦ.
